The Soma Sessions

Soma Flow & Soma Rise

The Soma Sessions were a series of gentle movement and creative expression workshops designed to support wellbeing through body awareness, creativity, and community connection. Delivered across Edinburgh and Glasgow, the sessions created nurturing spaces where participants could reconnect with themselves and others in a safe and supportive environment.

Funded by the National Lottery Awards for All, this programme offered accessible opportunities for people of all abilities, whether experienced in movement practices or completely new.

About the Sessions

Each two-hour session blended:

  • Gentle breathwork to encourage relaxation and grounding

  • Easy, dance-based movement to foster body awareness and self-expression

  • Creative activities such as writing, drawing, or collage to explore and articulate personal experiences

Participants were invited to listen to their bodies and express what emerged through creativity, leaving each session with something meaningful that supported both their wellbeing and creative journey.

No prior experience was required, and all abilities were warmly welcomed.

Soma Flow

Soma Flow was a dedicated space for individuals who identify as BPOC (Black People and People of Colour). These sessions centred on belonging and community, offering a support space for participants to explore body-based movement and creative expression in a space designed specifically for them.

Soma Rise

Soma Rise provided an inclusive and supportive space for women, for connection, care, and wellbeing through shared creative expression and body-based movement.
